When: July 22-27, 2007. Where: Davidson College (near Charlotte, NC). Application Deadline: First come, first serve.

July 22-27, 2007 - Davidson College Summer Institute - NC

The Davidson College Summer Institute offers a convenient, affordable, and intellectually stimulating summer format for German teachers to earn teaching certificate renewal credits (one Davidson credit, equivalent to four semester hours). All participants are enrolled in three mini-seminars, each meeting one and one-half hours daily for one week. The topics are "Didaktisches Arbeiten mit Spielen, Bildern, Liedern," "Deutsche Lyrik - 5 Tage, 5 Dichter," and "Jugendliche in neueren deutschen Filmen." $150 covers tuition, room, and board. Lunches are treated as German Tables, with the Institute faculty joining the participants for meals and conversation in German. Evenings will feature German films related to the seminar themes. Since all participants are expected to commit to speaking German only, the Institute is a weeklong Sprachbad. 15 participants will be admitted on a “first come, first served” basis, assuming appropriate credentials.
